PROJECTS AT STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY, PROGRAM IN PUBLIC HEALTH, 2011-2013

While pursuing a Master's in Public Health, with a concentration on quantitative methods and under the mentorship of Dr. Tia Palermo and collaborators in Argentina, I co-led the design, IRB approvals, and implementation of several research studies related to women's health. We evaluated the long-term outcomes of the intrauterine device (IUD) and it's acceptability as a an emergency contraception (EC) among patients and providers in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

PROJECTs at Albert einstein college of medicine, department of family and social medicine, Bronx, NY
2011-2014

My earliest introduction to Epidemiology was as a summer intern at the Affordable HOME Study, led by Dr. Earle Chambers. This mentor-mentee relationship was the spring broad for my interest in the field of Epidemiology. I visited neighborhoods throughout the Bronx to recruit and interview participants about their lifestyle behaviors and a range of medical conditions. Using primary data, I examined environmental risk factors and linked them to health outcomes like obesity and sleep. This research taught me that the most effective health care interventions are culturally specific.
